Our dream is to foster and nurture a community of cultural leadership in an environment where every voice is regarded with mutual respect.

We believe that the exchange of ideas between people from all areas of creative life in our Down State host community, and the visiting residents with  “A Little Creative Class” forms the soul of our mission. In this spirit we are actively building an innovative and inclusive network of creative visionaries who we can forge new creative paths with.

THE SPIRIT OF INVOLVEMENT

We invite artists, thinkers, scientists, makers and doers of all kinds to welcome us into your studio, have a conversation about our common passions, prepare a formal 12 week workshop, take us on a tour of a hidden gem in your neighborhood, tell us about your music show, zine opening, bake something with us, and let us help you put on a fashion show of your latest designs, Open up a store that lasts a day.  Come with us to The Whitney or The Tenement Museum, or bird watching in Central Park. We want to build boats out of found things and sail to forbidden islands, write an opera about our grandparents, make a film that is only sound, become scent art connoisseurs who sing with whales, dissolve boundaries we didn’t know existed, and really make a different world.

GET INVOLVED

We seek mentors to orient our artists in residence to the vast landscape of possibility offered in creative life. We invite all who are dedicated to nurturing the unique voices of a population from which there are significant challenges in the access to creative culture, to contact us with ideas you would like to share.
